![]() Katherine Haynes discovered that Bubblewrap could be dyed and manipulated whilst studying Interior Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at University. She was encouraged to experiment with absolutely everything. At first Katherine just used it as a fabric with an interesting texture, but since leaving University she has developed it into more and more products. |
The way the colours and texture of the Bubblewrap are heightened when light shines through from behind captured her imagination. It was therefore logical to develop lampshades, window blinds and hangings that can be hung inside or outside. The durability and waterproof qualities of the Bubblewrap were also impressive, so she expanded the range to include bags. The delicate appearance of the Bubblewrap once dyed and flattened, and her love of drawing with wire inspired her to develop some accessories and pictures as well. Katherine believes that the possibilities are endless - so if you have an idea, just ask and she will be happy to give it a go. |
Recycling is incredibly important to her, especially where plastic is concerned, so she was delighted with the discovery that Bubblewrap could be dyed and turned into beautiful things rather than being thrown away. Katherine can also give a new lease of life to old/damaged lampshades. |
